Amsterdam-based musician and trombone player Matthias Konrad has sculpted his musical talents from his early youth. At first through piano, then through trombone lessons, Matthias has made his musical way into a developed and experienced musician and trombonist. While studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, he joined the German Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO), and after graduating with a Master’s Degree he had already established himself playing with a variety of Dutch and international groups like Tetzepi, Bernie’s Lounge, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and the singer Mathilde Santing. Matthias moved to New York, to further model his musical skills with renowned musicians like Robin Eubanks, Kenny Werner, and Brian Lynch. During his studies he has recorded with both Werner and Lynch, and played concerts on some of New York’s challenging music podia, among which the famous Blue Note. Back in Amsterdam he is part of Tetzepi, the Konrad Koselleck Big Band, Toro Ensamble, and SoWhat. Besides that his work as a freelance trombone player includes studio sessions and concerts with amongst others De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, The Kik, La India, Mathilde Santing, Ruben Hein, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Marieke Jager, Tiny Little Big Band, The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Holland Big Band, The Very Next, Lilian Hak.
